Copycats Save Money

You can save a lot of money making your own mixes.

All you need for this Good Seasons Italian dressing mix is probably on your pantry shelf already since they are pretty common herbs and spices.

This Has Many Uses

Sure, you can make this dressing mix up and use it only for salad dressing, but it’s also a good flavoring for many other things.

I used this seasoning in my Italian Chicken Casserole and in my Slow Cooker Creamy Italian Beef.

My brother-in-law has used Italian salad dressing mix for years to flavor burgers. He mixes one envelope in one pound of ground beef then grills them on the BBQ. They are delicious!!

Want It Zestier?

If you’d like to make a zestier variety of the dressing, all you have to do is add a pinch or two of red pepper flakes to the mix.

Want it more garlicky? Then add a teaspoon of dehydrated minced garlic (in addition to the garlic powder) to it.

I could figure out what the measurements should be for the oil and vinegar, but what about the water and the amount of mix? Thanks in advance.

This sounds great, sadly the instructions for mixing it up as a salad dressing are missing some important numbers. Steps 3 thru 6 seem to lack quantity amounts. Thanks for this and all of your tasty recipes.

I’ve have been purchasing packages of this salad dressing for many years, so I’m now happy that I can make my own dressing mixture. I already have all of the ingredients on hand. Would you believe that I have one of those old original “Good Seasons” shaker bottles? I found it in my mom’s pantry. Thanks for the recipe. We love this dressing.

    To make up as dressing:
    tbs mix
    /4 cup vinegar
    /3 cup oil
    tbs water

Is that 1/4 cup vinegar or 4 cups and oil? it is unclear.

      April 12, 2017 at 8:05 pm

Thanks! I have no idea how that happened!!

Which type of vinegar do you recommend?

    • Judith Hanneman says

      April 13, 2017 at 12:40 am

My mom always used red wine vinegar and that was good. I’m partial to balsamic and apple cider.

I always used red wine vinegar. I’m going to give the others a try. Thank you for the recipe and your reply. I have been enjoying your recipes.
