If your grocery store has a reduced rack for produce, never overlook this.
Today, I got green & red bell peppers for a fraction of their regular price. They were in good shape too–just as good as what was being sold for full price.
What I do is dice them then freeze them. That way you’ll always have it to throw in a recipe, and at a far lower price than buying the same thing in the frozen section.
Since bananas have skyrocketed in the past few years, always, and I mean ALWAYS pick up any reduced bananas you can find. Most of the time, they are at the perfect stage to make banana muffins, banana bread, etc. Even if you don’t have any immediate use for them, mash them, bag them and freeze them for when you do need them. They freeze well. I usually freeze 3 mashed bananas per ziplock bag since that’s the most common measurement in recipes. It’s about 1 cup.
