  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbs grated orange zest
  • 1/4 cup orange juice


  • Combine cream cheese and shortening, creaming well.
  • Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, beating well after each addition.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk and orange juice..
  • Alternate milk and flour mixture ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition.
  • Stir in orange zest.
  • Pour batter into a greased 10-cup tube pan.
  • Bake at 375 F/190C for about 55 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in pan for 10 mintues. Then sprinkle orange juice over loaves.


You can add 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts if you'd like them
