Hi Jannette--if you want to you can, but I didn't. Just browned in it. Hope you like this chicken. I also run a big crock pot group on Facebook if you are interested. We post non-crock pot stuff too, but majority of the recipes are for the slow cooker. Crazy For Crockpots

I'm sure it could Kelly, but you will probably have to reduce the cooking time. Done with that cut, it might be better suited to stovetop (where it won't dry out).

In reply to Angela.

Thanks for letting me know that McCormick has reduced sodium gravy mix!! I never saw it, but then again, I wasn't looking very closely. I've been able to buy gravy mixes in my local dollar store 2 for $1 so I've been making other adjustments, but that product will be a boon!! Angela, you can look on allrecipes.com for a homemade mix for the Italian salad dressing mix. I don't use much of it so that's why I never looked for a recipe, plus I had a few boxes here I bought for my sister--she loves the stuff and can't get it in UK so I stock up for her and she takes it back when she visits LOL

This chicken sounds very tasty, so I'm sure we'll enjoy it.... especially since we LOVE chicken! I'll definitely use a lower sodium chicken soup. Also, please note that "McCormick" (also) carries a 30%' lower sodium gravy mix in a package, so I'll use that. I'm also very well aware that a package of 'Italian Salad Dressing Mix' will give this dish a LOT of flavor, but there's no way to lower the amount of sodium in it....unless you use less, or mix up your own herbs. Nevertheless, I'll be making this tasty chicken sometime this coming week. I'm sure it will be a hit with my family.
