Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Slow cooker pepper steak is a meal sure to please. Easy to make with simple ingredients and making it in the slow cooker keeps your kitchen cool!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin tip steak cut in 1-inch strips
  • 1 cup sliced water chestnuts drained
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 cups bell peppers cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp dry white wine

THICKENING

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Place beef, mushrooms, onion, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, water chestnuts and wine in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours, high 4-6 hours.
  • About 15-30 minutes before serving, add the peppers (see NOTES).
  • If thickening is desired, mix cornstarch and water and stir into the slow cooker. Turn to high (if you cooked on low) and cook for 15 minutes.

Notes

You can add peppers at the beginning, but this dish will taste better if you add them later--as per recipe.
