<h2>Individual Apple Pie With No Work</h2>
<p>Who wouldn&#8217;t love an apple pie that practically made itself? I&#8217;m guessing the answer to that is, &#8220;No one.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is also a great recipe to have in your arsenal when you need a dessert on the double-up. One of these individual apple pies is a serving.</p>
<p>It relies on convenience foods that you probably have in your fridge and pantry. If you don&#8217;t, it&#8217;s a good idea to keep these staples on hand. One won&#8217;t go bad because it&#8217;s canned pie filling and the other one will keep in your fridge for a long time&#8211;<a href="https://www.thekitchn.com/canned-cinnamon-roll-brands-265895" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow external" data-wpel-link="external">refrigerated cinnamon rolls</a>. And you can always use those cinnamon rolls for their intended purpose if the out-date is getting near.</p>

<h2>Making The Crumbs</h2>
<p>The crumbs are the only thing your going to make from scratch with these little pies.</p>
<p>Since the crumbs are pretty generic and can be used for other baking projects, you may want to make up more of them than is used on these pies.</p>
<p>Years ago, I stumbled on a foolproof <a href="https://bakeatmidnite.com/pumpkin-crumb-cake/" data-wpel-link="internal" target="_self" rel="follow">method for crumbs</a> since mine always sucked and melted. They tasted good but looked horrible. But then I made this cranberry coffee cake that was in a magazine I used to get, and you used melted butter for the crumbs; unlike cutting the cold butter into the flour/sugar like a pie crust. The cake was very forgettable but the crumbs were not and I used that recipe ever since, despite what any recipe said to use. It&#8217;s a basic formula so you can double, triple, etc.</p>
<p>The formula is 1:1:2 of butter (melted) to sugar to flour so for the basic &#8220;recipe&#8221; it&#8217;s 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup flour. And remember to melt the butter!</p>

<h2>Optional But Good</h2>
<p>You might want to cut up the slices in the apple pie filling so you can distribute it better. I find the slices to be pretty large, which is fine if you&#8217;re using it for a regular-sized pie. However, it might be too large for a muffin-cup sized pie. So what I did was cut up each slice into thirds and that worked out great.</p>

<h3>Always Keep This In Your Freezer</h3>
<p>Frozen white bread and frozen dinner rolls are two things you will always find in my freezer. These are two of the most versatile things you can have on hand. These breads and rolls are unbaked. All you do is thaw and raise it.</p>
<p>You can substitute the frozen dough in many recipes calling for a yeast-based dough. These <a href="https://bakeatmidnite.com/orange-breakfast-rolls/" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer follow" data-wpel-link="internal">Orange Breakfast Rolls</a> use it.</p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t find the dinner rolls&#8211;and many times my store is out of stock on these&#8211;the white bread dough logs are usually available. You can always make rolls (or any shape) out of the thawed bread dough for recipes such as this. This is why I find them more practical. And remember it&#8217;s always useful when you run out of bread!</p>

<h3>Prep The Night Before</h3>
<p>If you want to use the loaves, obviously they must thaw first before you can shape it, but the rolls can be prepped frozen for this recipe. So I suggest doing the prep work the night before you plan on serving them. The rolls will thaw and rise in the refrigerator, but if they aren&#8217;t double in bulk the next morning, just leave them, covered with greased plastic wrap, in a draft-free place for about 30-60 minutes.</p>

<p>Since I got my new professional-strength Kitchen Aid Pro 600 mixer, the ol&#8217; Midnight Baker has gotten back to baking!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been wanting to make cinnamon rolls for a while now.  I found this recipe for Cinnabon Rolls in several places&#8230;the furthest I can track it back is to AllRecipies.</p>

<p>Rather than make them plain&#8211;and they probably would be good made the standard way, I decided to ramp up the taste a bit with some hints of orange.  I love the combination of orange and cinnamon&#8230;so warm and spicy.  And perfect for a drab winter day.  The orange brings a hint of sunshine into the picture.  At least for me.</p>

<p>This is a very rich sweet dough recipe, but it&#8217;s very easy to make, especially with a great stand mixer!  I&#8217;ve given directions for bread machines as well.</p>
<p>A little hint here&#8211;but we just may be giving away a great Kitchen Aid mixer sometime after the New Year, so check back <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p>Not only is the dough easy to make, the whole operation is easy.  While it looks as if there are a lot of steps, each one is simple.  Even the shaping is simple.  The icing is easy too. You couldn&#8217;t ask for something so wonderfully flavored yet so darn easy to make.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t like orange, by all means leave the zest out of the filling and substitute vanilla for the orange extract.</p>
<p>Some sad news:  It is with regret I have to tell you that these GORGEOUS pans, the Revol Cook &amp; Play line of lidded bakers, will no longer be manufactured.  Once all remaining stock is sold that will be that so if you want a great pan that holds up under professional use <b><i>AND</i></b> has a cover/lid that you can bake on, grab one while they are still available.</p>

Place about 1 tsp oil in the bottom of a large bowl. Add dough, coat bottom of dough with oil then turn oil-side up and cover with a greased sheet of plastic wrap. Set in a warm, draft-free place to rise until double, about 1 1/2-2 hrs depending on conditions.</div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-2" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;"><strong>Bread Machine Method:</strong> Add dough ingredients per bread machine instructions. Run on DOUGH cycle and let rise in the machine.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-3" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;">Punch down dough. Lightly oil your work surface. Turn out dough onto prepared work surface and roll into a rectangle 12 x 16-inches.</div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-4" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Spread the 1/3 cup butter evenly across the top of the dough. Mix the cinnamon, orange zest and brown sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly across buttered surface.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-5" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;">Roll up tightly starting from narrow end. Seal seam. Cut into 12 slices, 1-inch thick. Place in prepared baking pan 3 slices across short end, 4 slices down long end. Cover with greased plastic wrap and set in a warm, draft-free place to rise until double, about 45-60 minutes.</div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-6" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;">Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until rolls are golden brown on the top.</div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-17552-step-0-7" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;">While rolls are baking, prepare frosting by placing cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl. Beat the butter and cream cheese well. Add the powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time beating until smooth.
