Thanks Barbara!!! A friend and I tried for YEARS to copy that German-deli-style crumb cake you can get in NYC. Entenmann's was the closest you could come to it but it's gotten SOOOOoooo expensive!!!

I had one around the corner from me in Brooklyn. It was on Troy Ave off Farragut Rd, Lillian. I think it was their first thrift bakery too. You could not get near the place on a Saturday and most of the stuff was gone by 10 am LOL. This is a good one though. The crumbs look like a lava flow and they're chewy. I think I like this better, and it's way cheaper than buying it. They want close to $7 for one now OUCH

WOW…that looks just like Entenmann's coffeecake! I used to go to the thrift store ALL the time as a kid with my Mom! We would always buy the coffeecake and the cheesecake! Great post!
